Optimization Guide: Squeeze More Frames Out of Any PC
The exact settings and tweaks we use to claw back frames before spending a cent on new hardware.

Free frames first, money later
Before you upgrade anything, most games leave 20-40 percent of your framerate on the table in the wrong settings. This guide walks the handful of options that cost the most performance for the least visual gain — turn these down first.
The settings that actually matter
Shadows, volumetric fog, and screen-space reflections are the usual budget killers. Textures, by contrast, are nearly free if you have the VRAM. Here is the preset we start from on a mid-range rig:

Update your GPU driver, enable Resizable BAR in the BIOS, and set the Windows power plan to high performance. Close the browser tab playing video in the background — it is quietly eating a whole CPU core.
Measure, then stop
Lock a framerate target and cap it. Chasing an extra five frames past your monitor's refresh rate just makes the fans louder for nothing.
